City of Yucaipa Projects
B&R Consulting Engineers, Inc. provides full-service construction management support services, including constructability review, contract administration, construction inspection, structure representative, and office engineering to the City of Yucaipa for their projects on an as-needed basis.
Yucaipa Boulevard Improvement Project - Yucaipa, California
The Yucaipa Boulevard Improvement project is comprised of several phases. B&R assisted the City of Yucaipa in the construction management, construction engineering, inspection services, office engineering, and contract administration of Phases I and II. These phases included the widening of Yucaipa Boulevard from four to six lanes, sidewalk and curb ramp constrfuction, traffic signal work, storm drain improvements and a raised center median from 18th Street to the I-10 freeway (phase I) and from 15th to 16th Street (phase II).
In addition to the improvements listed above, Phase I, included undergrounding of utility lines and removal of overhead utilities, utility poles and other utility work such as utility vaults, and conduits. And Phase II included a new roadway alignment and a new traffic signal at 16th Street designed specifically to improve safety for both vehicles and pedestrian. The construction cost of the first two phases was approximately $8.5 million.
Wilson III Basin Project - Yucaipa, California
The Wilson III Basin Project involves construction of flood-control improvements at the confluence of Oak Glen Creek and Wilson Creek and development of recreation, innovation, and residential areas in the City of Yucaipa, CA. B&R is providing construction management, construction engineering, inspection services, office engineering, and contract administration on this project. The project has an estimated total cost in excess of 18 million dollars.
The project is being constructed in phases. The major components of the phases that are currently planned that B&R staff are involved in include:
Phase 1A – Clearing and grubbing, over-excavation of unsuitable fill or upper portions of the alluvium, earthwork for excavation, mass and rough grading, transport of the basin material to compacted fill sites, and temporary stockpile areas for material and oversize rock, and excavation and realignment of Wilson Creek.
Phase 1B – Excavation and grading for the installation of rock lined channel sections, brow ditches, and drainage facilities on Wilson Creek. Improvements constructed on Phase 1B are primarily erosion control measures to protect the channel temporarily prior to construction of Phase 1C.
Phase 1C – Continuation of the basin excavation and grading, RSP channels, energy dissipators, storm flow drop-structures, reinforced-concrete box basin outlet, a trapezoidal channel and a baffle–type energy dissipater, channel access roads with gates and driveway approaches.
Avenue E Roundabouts - Yucaipa, California
The Avenue E Improvement project consisted primarily of the construction of traffic circles (roundabouts) at the intersections with 2nd and 3rd Streets. This is the fist phase of plans to incorporate roundabouts at other intersections along Avenue E.
In addition to construction of the roundabouts, this project also included construction of asphalt paving, curb and gutter, sidewalks, ADA compliant curb ramps, residential driveways, striping, and storm drains.
6th Place Low Water Crossing Project - Yucaipa, California
The 6th Place Low Water Crossing Project in the City of Yucaipa replaced the existing low water crossing at Wildwood Creek with triple box culvert. The project limits included the full length of 6th Place from Wildwood Canyon Road to Avenue G. This project was similar to other recent projects in the City of Yucaipa that provide a safe crossing for vehicular and pedestrian traffic by replacing the existing low water crossings at washes with all weather crossings.
The 6th Place Low Water Crossing Project, in addition to the 8’ x 14’ triple box culvert, included channel improvements in Wildwood Creek, street improvements at the bridge and roadway approaches, a maintenance access ramp to the channel, curb and gutters, sidewalks, access improvements to the adjacent private properties and the construction of an underground storm drain system.

Fremont Low Water Crossing Project - Yucaipa, California
The Fremont LWC consisted primarily of the construction of triple 10’ x 14’ reinforced concrete box culverts under a reconstructed Fremont Street to provide an all-weather crossing at Wilson Creek. In addition, the project provided for the widening of Fremont Street to include curb and gutter, sidewalks, fencing, surface drainage facilities, and multi-use trails. Channel improvements were also constructed to protect the facility. These included extensive grading, headwalls, wingwalls, cutoff walls, concreted rip-rap installation both upstream and downstream, rehabilitation of existing energy dissipators, concrete aprons, and concrete slope paving.
Dunlap Boulevard Bridge Replacement - Yucaipa, California
The project involves Dunlap Boulevard Bridge removal and replacement project crossing at Wilson Creek Channel. The project will be constructed in phases. Phase I of the project constructed a precast girder bridge structure on CIDH piles. Phase I includes removal of portions of the existing structure and construction of associated street improvements to connect the new bridge structure to the existing Dunlap Blvd. Street improvements will be limited to just those required for an interim connection to the bridge structure. Phase II will include the removal of portions of the existing box culverts, construction of wingwalls, installation of rock riprap, utility relocations, street improvements and drainage facilities on Dunlap Boulevard.
